The Susquehanna Valley Shutterbugs is comprised of both amateur and professional photographers of diverse talents and backgrounds who all share the common pursuit of
enhancing their skills and knowledge.  The organization began in February, 1993 and has an annual membership which averages somewhere between 25 and 50 people of all ages from throughout the Susquehanna Valley.

            Meetings

The Shutterbugs meet the fourth Monday of the month at the Lycoming County Historical Society 858
West Fourth Street, Williamsport, PA 17701 at 7:00 P.M.  (When that date conflicts with a holiday,
the meeting is usually rescheduled for the third Monday.)  The meetings are open to the public.  Enter using
             the side door.

The meetings are divided into two parts. The first part is a short business meeting to discuss club business followed by an educational program, which can range from an instructional video to a featured guest speaker.

So, whether you are 16 or 60, shoot with a point and shoot, a digital SLR or even film on a 4x5, come join
us!  There is something of interest for everyone.

            Annual Photographic Displays

In addition to monthly meetings, the Shutterbugs conduct three yearly photo shows, which are held at the
             Thomas Taber Museum.

A Shutterbug's Members Photo Show is held in February. Ribbons are awarded by popular vote of those
             attending the show's opening.

In May, the Club sponsors a Fine Arts Juried Photo Show. This show is open to anyone. It is judged by three professional photographers and/or artists.  Cash prizes are awarded (over $1,300), making it the largest prize money awarded show in the area. Usually the number of entries for this show far exceeds the wall space
available; so simply being selected to be in the show is an honor.

In the fall, the Shutterbugs hold their Members Black & White Photo Show.  Ribbons are awarded by popular
vote of those attending the show's opening.

All shows have a grand opening celebration featuring a wine & cheese reception with some proceeds
benefitting the Lycoming County Historical Society.

            Community Service

In addition to regular meetings and photo shows, Shutterbug members are also involved in volunteering their photographic skills to the PA State Odyssey of the Minds competition at Williamsport High School, the Community Theater League's "Ray of Light Awards" and the Williamsport Soap Box Derby.
